Workshop: What is the Yucel method “building on recovery” - Marlie van de Berg
Marlie van de Berg
Marlie is a trainer Yucelmethod and expert by experience. She has 45 years of experience in the mental health care. Marlie has been working as a psychiatric nurse, as a social worker and as a project leader of a team of people with lived experiences in an organization in Limburg. She has received training in strengths-based approach, the Yucelmethod, Photovoice, Peer support, Shared reading and more.
Annotation of the workshop: What is the Yucel method “building on recovery”
The method aims to help people identify and solve their own problems. The method rests on three pillars. The first pillar is an inventory of I, family, eco forces. The second pillar is building a spatial arrangement with coloured blocks. This arrangement represents the current or future situation of the client. The third pillar is talking and thinking about the own life situation, the problems, and the supporting factors in life on the basis of this set-up.
The method assumes that people themselves are in control of their lives and of the support they receive when overcoming problems. Own power, family and their immediate environment seek solutions in the first instance. Expert help and support have a serving, supporting role in this.
Goals of this workshop: You will experience how the Yucel method can be applied. This means: from the attitude of a committed (but temporary) supporter, focused on the individual’s own strength and system, you can work with the blocks from the block box.
Learn to tell your story by making visual arrangements.
Working in a strength-oriented way: having insight into the fact that people and families have a lot of their own power that becomes visible during the guidance of the people.

Annotation of the presentation:
We would like to share our experiences with the implementation of the CARe Model in everyday practice in the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund's and about development of Training the trainers within this organization. We have conducted CARe trainings for 3 years already and in 2022-2023 we will continue with our own trainers.
We also aim to implement the ICF (International Classification of Functioning) in our organization and in the National Vocational Rehabilitation Service. ICF is a framework for describing and organising information about functioning abilities of the person and it provides a conceptual basis as well as standard language for different specialists and statistics. ICF and CARe are like two sides of the same coin, from our experiences both are necessary and complement each other. And now, 2022, we are taking big steps towards it and will be very happy to share our developments with you.
Presentation/workshop: “No one can stand in front of the pickle, behind the pickle, or we won't be CARe”- Ludmila Horynová, Juraj Marendiak, Jana Pluhaříková Pomajzlová
Ludmila Horynová. I have worked in community services for people with lived experience of mental illness since 2001. In the course of my practice I have come across the CARe model which I found very appealing, one might say enthusiastic. It is very inspiring to me as it allows clients, as well as staff, to find opportunities and space to pursue their wishes and make sense of their actions. And I enjoy that very much. That's why I was also at the origin of the idea to bring this approach to our organization, BONA o.p.s., and to implement the project that brought CARe into the organization over the past two years.
Mgr. Jana Pluhaříková Pomajzlová is a CARe trainer, occupational therapist, supervisor, and consultant working in the field of mental health care. Dance and martial art are her passion, she loves to listen to people´s stories, that brought her to Recovery college, recovery stories and narrative practice. She has experience in developing and leading the teams in a training café for people with serious mental health problems in Prague and with long term support in transformation process of mental health care services towards community care, especially with implementation of Model CARe in practice. She works as a supervisor, trainer and
consultant in mental health care services and is involved in the projects which promote
recovery-oriented care, experiential knowledge and support deinstitutionalization process.

Became CARe trainer in 2018, since then providing CARe trainings and implementation support in organisations, mainly in Czech republic. Works also as consultant for institutional care providers in their process of deinstitutionalisation.
Annotation of the presentation: Experiences with the implementation of the CARe Model as an ongoing process of change in the relation to people we work with, in relation to the team, managers and workers and definitely to ourselves. We feel personal transformation towards internalised use of CARe principles as crucial for the success in the implementation process of CARe model into practice. We would like to share experiences from realised projects in organization Bona, o.p.s., Domov na cestě and more organizations in The Czech Republic, which decided to implement Model CARe into the practice, tried different tools and processes to improve quality of care.
Workshop: Experiential knowledge and its importance in our practice and in our trainings - Zdeněk Císař
Zdeněk Císař has many-years of experience overcoming various psychological issues, and educating himself in the mental health field. He currently works as a Peer consultant as well as a Peer lecturer in The Center for Mental Health Care Development in Prague.Working as a Peer is a dream come true and a great satisfaction for Zdeněk, since he sees it as a way of making all the hardships in his life mean so much, now that it can be useful to others.Shortly after Zdeněk started working as a Peer consultant, he came across a book about the CARe model, and when he found out that his vision of how to provide mental health care and support for others fully aligns with this model, it was incredibly validating and encouraging. CARe's principles, constant development, and overall direction focused on the person, all domains of their life, and their recovery is a perfect fit for Zdeněk, and so he is very happy and honored to be a part of The CARe Network.
