TRAVEL AND VENUE INFORMATION
Split is the second largest city of Croatia, and the largest city in the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
The city was founded as the Greek colony of Aspálathos in the 3rd or 2nd century BC on the coast of the Illyrian Dalmatae, and later on was home to Diocletian's Palace, built for the Roman emperor in AD 305.

The event Resilience and Recovery (October 6th - 7th) will take place in the premises of the Bar Association in Split (in croatian: HOK), Zrinsko-Frankopanska street 8, Split.
The Split Airport in Kaštela is located about 20 km outside of Split, is well connected with the city of Split by shuttle buses (ticket costs 6 Eur) and could be bought directly on the link https://plesoprijevoz.hr/en/split-croatia/ . The price of one way ticket is 45 HRK (6 Eur) and journey takes cca 30 minutes. Taxi fare to the city center costs about 45 Eur.
If you prefer driving by car, there is modern freeway Zagreb-Split (410 km) with toll cost of 24 Eur (one way).
The Port of Split connects Split to the nearby central Dalmatian islands Brač, Hvar and Šolta, as well as the more distant Vis, Korčula, Mljet and Lastovo and additional seasonal routes to further destinations in Italy.
For accommodation, there is many apartments and hotels that could be easily booked by Airbnb or Booking.
Getting around Split is easy - most important and interesting places are within walking distance!
Much of the town centre is pedestrian only which makes getting around Split somewhat of a challenge. The harbourside route from the port almost to the marina is a pleasant pedestrian promenade but it means that you must go above Diocletian's Palace to travel between east and west Split by car. So don't be surprised if your taxi driver appears to be going around in circles! He may not be ripping you off.
There is no parking whatsoever in Diocletian's Palace or Split's Old Town; all parking is outside the walls. The port area east of the town centre contains a large parking lot.
The public transport system in Split is limited to buses but the system is extensive and buses run from around 5am to nearly midnight. Service is daily and quite frequent on the major bus lines--1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 17 and 21- but on other lines you may have to wait for over an hour Monday to Saturday and find no service on Sunday.
Taxis in Split do not cruise the street but wait at taxi stations. You can radio for a taxi at 1777 or use Uber in Split.
Split has a Mediterranean climate with hot, moderately dry summers and mild, wet winters, which can occasionally feel cold, because of the strong northern wind called "bura".
For October, average temperature is between 15-20 °C and temperature of sea 19-22 °C so don’t forget your swimsuit!
