For the last 7 years in Kyrgyzstan, several types of community-based care were developed by NGOs such as Outpatient Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center, Mobile Team (psychiatric care at home), self-help groups of people with mental disorders and Club House. There are still challenges to access community-based services in the country. The Conference was organized by the Association ПРОДВИЖЕНИЕ АЛЬТЕРНАТИВ with participations of experts from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Hungary in order to promote mental health reforms and community-based services. CARe Europe members Anna Kudiyarova (Kazakhstan), Zsolt Bugarszki (Hungary), and Lylia Pantaleeva (Kyrgyzstan) have also contributed to the event with their presentations sharing their experiences with local colleagues.
“Enhancing Implementation of Mental Health Reform in Armenia” - Conference in Yerevan The Open Society Foundations–Armenia (OSFA) in cooperation with the East East Partnership Beyond Borders program of the Open Society Foundations has organized an International Conference on Mental Health in Yerevan. Within the framework of East-East Program Care Europe's members from Estonia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia and Kyrgyzstan has shared their experiences with Armenian colleagues. First in the Autumn of 2012 a group of professionals from Armenia had the opportunity to visit community-based mental health services in Hungary, Czech Republic and Estonia. In 2013 November an international conference was organized by OSFA where experts from Eastern European and Central Asian countries could share their experiences.
Seminar “Fostering change in Romania - From institutionalization to community services for people with mental health problems” brought together representatives of public authorities from Romania with professionals active in mental health from NGO-s and institutions, users and ex-users of mental health services and specialists from Mental Health Europe. Independent Living - Making choice and control a realityThe European Social Network publishes its new report on how social services in Europe can promote choice and control alongside people with disabilities.
New home for disabled people in Estonia In Estonia, the organization Tegusama elu kodu has opened new group homes for disabled people in Viti, Estonia. They successfully managed to close down 4 large institutions, giving opportunity for the residents to live in the community.
Mental healthcare in the Netherlands: Back to square one?

Innovative Approaches in the Community based Psychosocial Care for people with mental disorders
In November 28 – 29, 2013 there will be International Conference on “Innovative Approaches in the Community based Psychosocial Care for people with mental disorders” in Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. For the last 7 years in Kyrgyzstan several types of community based care were developed by NGOs: Outpatient Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center, a Mobile Team (psychiatric care at home), self-help groups of people with mental disorders, Club House. At present in Kyrgyzstan there is the problem with access to outpatient community based psychosocial care that would help people with mental health problems to improve their quality of life and integrate into society.
Goal of the conference: International exchange of experience on developing community based care for people with mental disorders.
The topics for discussion at the conference are:
1. Development of Community Based Care for people with mental disorders.
2. Rehabilitation of labour skills of people with mental disorders.
3. Development of Supported living (Save housing, transitional housing) for people with mental disorders.
4. Development of self-help groups and Clubhouse.
5. Governmental financing community-based forms of psychiatric care in Kyrgyz Republic.
Working language of the conference is Russian with translation to English. We invite to Conference all participants who have interested in.
